Venice — Reflections of a Timeless City

Canals, gondolas, historic architecture and the colourful island of Burano

In Venice, water is everywhere, reflecting centuries-old architecture and transforming familiar scenes with every change of light.

This album brings together photographs of its canals, bridges, gondolas and historic buildings, alongside the colourful waterfront houses and streets of Burano.

Beyond the familiar landmarks, I was particularly drawn to the quieter details that give Venice its character: a reflection, a weathered façade or a glimpse of everyday life.

The story behind the photographs

Canal reflections, architectural details and the colours of Burano

Venice offers an extraordinary relationship between architecture and water. Its bridges, narrow canals and historic façades create compositions that change with the light and the movement of the water. Gondolas bring another dimension to these scenes, connecting the city's distinctive visual identity with its long maritime traditions.

On the nearby island of Burano, the atmosphere changes. Colourful houses line the canals, creating striking contrasts and reflections, while the smaller streets reveal a more intimate side of island life. I was drawn to these different expressions of Venice — from its celebrated waterways to the simple details that make each place memorable.
