Sicily — Between History, Colour and Volcanic Landscapes

Historic towns, lively markets and the changing landscapes of Sicily

What fascinated me about Sicily was the contrast between its historic towns, lively markets and the dramatic volcanic landscape of Mount Etna.

This album brings together photographs of Catania, Cefalù, Noto, Ragusa and smaller villages, where architecture, local traditions and everyday life reveal different sides of the island.

I was particularly drawn to the colours, textures and unexpected details that give these places their distinctive character.

The story behind the photographs

Baroque architecture, volcanic landscapes and everyday life

Sicily offers a remarkable variety of photographic subjects. In Catania, the markets reveal the colours and gestures of everyday life, while the historic streets of Noto and Ragusa reflect the island's rich architectural heritage. Along the coast, Cefalù brings together old buildings, narrow streets and views of the Mediterranean.

Mount Etna offers a striking contrast, with volcanic terrain and delicate flowers growing in an environment shaped by the volcano. From the mountain villages to the smallest architectural details, I was drawn to the relationship between history, landscape and the everyday scenes that make Sicily so distinctive.
