China — Between Nature and Heritage

A photographic journey through ancient architecture, mountain landscapes and traditional water towns

What fascinates me about China is the contrast between its monumental heritage and the quiet beauty of its landscapes. From the Great Wall and the Forbidden City to the waterways of ancient villages, every place offers a different atmosphere, shaped by history, light and time.

This album brings together photographs from Beijing, the rice terraces of Longsheng, the water towns of Zhujiajiao and Wuzhen, and the remarkable landscapes around Guilin and Yangshuo. Architecture, reflections, colours and everyday scenes reveal different aspects of China's cultural and natural heritage.

Through my lens, I was drawn to both the grandeur of these places and their quieter details: the geometry of a roof, a reflection in a canal, or the delicate layers of a landscape. These are the moments that give each photograph its own character.

The story behind the photographs

A journey through landscapes and history

The Jinshanling section of the Great Wall follows the contours of the mountains, while Beijing's Forbidden City reveals the symmetry and colours of imperial architecture. Further south, the Longsheng rice terraces reshape the hillsides into flowing patterns, and the canals of Zhujiajiao and Wuzhen reflect centuries of life around the water.

Together, these places offer a fascinating dialogue between nature and human creativity — a recurring theme in my photography.
