Camargue — Where the Wild Comes Alive

A photographic journey through flamingos, white horses and the wetlands of southern France

What fascinates me about the Camargue is the extraordinary presence of wildlife. Between lagoons, salt flats and open skies, birds and horses move through a landscape where water, light and nature seem inseparable.

This album brings together photographs of flamingos, herons, egrets and other birds around Pont de Gau, alongside the salt landscapes of Aigues-Mortes and the iconic white horses of the Camargue. From delicate reflections to powerful movements, each encounter reveals a different expression of the wild.

What stays with me most is the privilege of observing these animals: the elegance of a flamingo in flight, the patience of a heron at sunrise, or the energy of horses running through shallow water. These fleeting moments are at the heart of my approach to nature photography.

The story behind the photographs

Flamingos, white horses and the rhythms of the wetlands

The Camargue, in the Rhône delta, is one of France's most remarkable wetland environments. Its lagoons and marshes provide important habitats for flamingos, herons, egrets and many other birds.

At Pont de Gau, observing birds at different moments of the day reveals an extraordinary variety of behaviours, from quiet feeding to spectacular flight. Around Aigues-Mortes, the salt flats add distinctive colours and reflections to the landscape.

The white horses bring another dimension to this photographic journey. Their movement, strength and elegance create a striking contrast with the calm of the wetlands.

Together, these encounters express what draws me to wildlife photography: patience, observation and the beauty of a moment that cannot be repeated.
