New Zealand — Where Landscapes Meet the Wild

Rugged coastlines, remarkable wildlife and geothermal landscapes across New Zealand

Île de New Zealand's extraordinary diversity reveals itself in rugged coastlines, windswept beaches, peaceful countryside and landscapes shaped by geothermal activity.

From the dramatic shores of Kaikōura and Wharariki Beach to the steaming valleys of Rotorua, this album brings together places where nature takes centre stage.

Along the way, encounters with seabirds, marine wildlife and the changing light of the landscape made this photographic journey particularly memorable.

The story behind the photographs

Wild coastlines, encounters with wildlife and the forces of nature

New Zealand offers a remarkable sense of space and natural diversity. Along the coast, places such as Kaikōura, Cape Farewell and Wharariki Beach reveal landscapes shaped by wind, waves and changing weather. I was drawn to their dramatic forms, subtle colours and the constantly shifting relationship between land and sea.

Wildlife added another dimension to this journey. Observing seabirds along the shoreline, watching marine animals in their natural surroundings and discovering the quiet presence of sheep in the countryside offered very different photographic moments. Each required attention to behaviour, movement and light.

In Rotorua, the geothermal landscape presented an entirely different atmosphere. Rising steam, mineral formations and vividly coloured pools revealed the powerful natural processes beneath the surface, creating a striking contrast with the openness of the coastal scenery.
