The Story

Wings held upright, a common blue butterfly was feeding on a yellow flower when it turned towards me. For a brief moment, we seemed to be looking directly at each other, both equally surprised by the encounter.

What struck me was the unexpected sense of connection. Its tiny face was turned towards the lens, while its raised wings formed a delicate vertical silhouette above the flower. A scene I might otherwise have admired simply for its colours and shapes suddenly felt much more personal.

I stayed focused on that fleeting moment, aware that the slightest movement could bring it to an end. There was something quietly amusing, almost disarming, about finding myself face to face with such a small creature.

Upright captures more than the elegance of a butterfly at rest. It preserves the impression of a shared moment of curiosity, when observer and subject seemed equally intrigued by one another.

Printing, Edition & Authenticity

All artworks are professionally produced by WhiteWall, an internationally recognised Fine Art printing laboratory known for its high-quality materials and craftsmanship.

Each presentation uses a carefully selected Fine Art paper:

  • Epson Fine Art Cotton Smooth Natural for unframed paper prints.

  • Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta for Dibond-mounted prints, framed or unframed.

Each size is produced in a strictly limited edition of 15 signed and numbered prints, shared across all available finishes. Choosing a different presentation does not create a separate edition.

Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Once the edition of 15 for a given size is complete, the work will no longer be available in that size.

In addition, no more than 30 prints of the same photograph will be produced across all sizes and finishes combined.

Once this overall limit is reached, the photograph will be permanently withdrawn from sale in every size and finish.
