The Story

“Four wings spread, showing golden venation and iridescent spots. Light reveals the texture. Colours that were almost invisible at first slowly take their place.”

At first glance, a dragonfly’s wings appear almost transparent. But when the light passes through them, an intricate structure emerges: fine veins, delicate membranes and subtle reflections that shift between gold and iridescent colour.

Photographed in the South of France, Stained Glass draws attention to this extraordinary architecture. Through the macro lens, the wings become more than a detail of the insect. They form a composition of intersecting lines, translucent surfaces and changing light, reminiscent of the coloured glass of a window.

What fascinates me is the contrast between their apparent fragility and the complexity of their construction. Something so easily overlooked reveals an entire visual world when we take the time to observe it closely.

This is the essence of The Invisible Life: discovering forms, structures and beauty at a scale we rarely stop to consider. The photograph does not transform the dragonfly into something else. It simply allows us to see what was already there.

Presented in a handcrafted 20 mm solid wood Hamburg-style frame, available in Natural Oak or Alder Brown, with a natural white mat providing visual breathing space around the image.

Choose between clear glass or anti-reflective museum glass for reduced reflections and optimal viewing.

Fine Art Print on Dibond

Fine art paper permanently mounted on a rigid aluminium composite panel for exceptional flatness and long-term stability.

Presented without glass or frame, allowing the surface of the paper and the image itself to remain fully visible and free from reflections.

Printing, Edition & Authenticity

All artworks are produced by WhiteWall, an internationally recognised fine art printing laboratory known for its museum-grade standards and craftsmanship.

Printed using archival pigment inks on Epson Fine Art Cotton Smooth Natural, a 100% cotton, museum-grade paper selected for its quiet surface and ability to convey subtle tonal transitions without distraction.

Each size is produced in a strictly limited edition of 15 signed and numbered prints, shared across all available finishes. Choosing a different presentation does not create a separate edition.

Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Once the edition of 15 for a given size is complete, the work will no longer be available in that size.
