The Story

Perched at the very edge of an unopened flower bud, a small blister beetle stretched its front legs forward, as though reaching for something just beyond its grasp.

I was drawn to this simple gesture. The insect was almost motionless, yet the position of its legs suggested movement, curiosity and anticipation. There was a surprising sense of direction in such a tiny scene.

Having encountered this species before, I was interested in seeing it differently — not simply as an insect to identify, but as a living subject whose smallest movements could create a compelling composition.

The unopened bud provided a delicate platform, while the beetle's extended legs seemed to lead the eye beyond the frame. At this scale, the relationship between the insect and the plant became the entire story.

Reaching reflects what fascinates me about close-up nature photography: an ordinary gesture, easily overlooked, can reveal a remarkable sense of life and possibility.

Printing, Edition & Authenticity

All artworks are professionally produced by WhiteWall, an internationally recognised Fine Art printing laboratory known for its high-quality materials and craftsmanship.

Each presentation uses a carefully selected Fine Art paper:

  • Epson Fine Art Cotton Smooth Natural for unframed paper prints.

  • Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta for Dibond-mounted prints, framed or unframed.

Each size is produced in a strictly limited edition of 15 signed and numbered prints, shared across all available finishes. Choosing a different presentation does not create a separate edition.

Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Once the edition of 15 for a given size is complete, the work will no longer be available in that size.

In addition, no more than 30 prints of the same photograph will be produced across all sizes and finishes combined.

Once this overall limit is reached, the photograph will be permanently withdrawn from sale in every size and finish.
