Groix Island — Wild Shores and Atlantic Light

A photographic journey through Brittany's coastal trails, colourful harbours and windswept lighthouses

What draws me to Groix Island is its unspoilt Atlantic character. The changing light, the rugged coastline and the contrast between colourful harbours and quiet coastal paths create a remarkable sense of escape.

This album brings together photographs of Port-Tudy, the island's lighthouses, its coastal trails and the small streets of its villages. From sweeping sea views to weathered buildings and maritime details, each image reveals a different aspect of this Breton island.

Beyond the dramatic scenery, I am particularly drawn to the atmosphere of these places: the colours of a harbour, the textures of an old house, the wind along a coastal path and the ever-changing relationship between land, sea and light.

The story behind the photographs

Lighthouses, coastal paths and island life

Just off the coast of Lorient, Groix offers a distinctive mix of wild landscapes and maritime heritage. Its coastal paths reveal cliffs, sheltered coves and wide Atlantic views, while the lighthouses of Pen Men and Pointe des Chats mark two contrasting parts of the island.

Port-Tudy, Port-Lay and the island's villages bring another dimension to the journey, with colourful details, traditional buildings and a strong connection to the sea.

Together, these places reflect what interests me in coastal photography: finding beauty in both the grandeur of a landscape and the small details of everyday life.
